One thing I’ve come to realise during my time reviewing is that couples’ vibes are often a myth. Very rarely does any couples vibe work well for both partners and so they tend to be something I look at with some degree of resignation. Satisfyer recently launched two new couples’ vibes. The Multifun 1 & 2. When they arrived in visions of baby pink and blue, I don’t think I really need to explain which I choose to review first.
The Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 is a horse shoe shaped couples vibe and in this the design isn’t like any I’ve seen before. The top branches into two angled arms, these lead down to a solid base. The Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 is a pretty baby pink in colour and covered in silky smooth silicone. These days silicone is so standard that I would be very surprised to see a company like Satisfyer using anything else.
Silky Pink Silicone
The silicone is soft, with an almost satin finish to it. My fingers glide across is and although it’s matt there is little in the way of stick or grab. Being silicone the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 is body safe, non-porous and phthalate free. Hooray! It does also mean you need to be careful with your lube choices. Silicone is only really compatible with water-based lube, anything else can damage your toy.
Looking at the packaging for the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 I can see straight away why it is so named. According to the back of the box there are more than 14 ways to enjoy the Multifun 2. Looking at some of the diagrams I find myself wondering if one toy can really do all this?
The premise behind the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 is it is a multi-functional toy that can be used for penises, vaginas or both together. A kind of universal vibe. This is a lovely concept, it really is. But the thing is trying to stimulate two areas on one body is hard enough, let alone two. Penises and vaginas tend to enjoy distinct types of stimulation in different areas. Plus, my own experience of couple’s vibes is they tend to travel a fair bit during use.
The controls for the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 are on the front of the wide base. There are two buttons controlling two separate sets of vibrations. One in the base, one in the arms. You need to press and hold the buttons for a couple of seconds before the vibe kicks in. Once this happens you can click the button again to scroll through the settings. Each control passes through ten settings. Three steady vibrations and seven patterned settings.
Weak Buzzy Vibes
The very first thing I notice is how weak the vibrations are. The ones in the base are buzzy and irritating. In the arms this feels somewhat better, deeper in base but still very shallow comparatively. This is an instant worry. Add this to the movement during sex and I’m greatly concerned about any couples benefit from the Multifun 2.
Some of the suggested uses for the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 had the body of the vibrator around the base of the penis. In fact, this seems to be the main way it can be used as a penile vibrator. Whilst the arms spread a little there is nothing about the Multifun 2 which suggests it will sit around a variety of penis shapes and sizes. You can rest the base on the top of the base of the shaft and allow the arms to tickle your balls. But this seems quite touch and go in practice, especially if you’re wanking at the time.
As I suspected as a couples vibe the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 isn’t great either. When the Multifun 2 is worn on the penis its contact with my clit is hit and miss and so I simply couldn’t get close to orgasm. It moves around and the base vibration becomes irritating, feeling and sounding like someone had released a cloud of wasps into my bedroom.
You might think from my above comments that I found the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 to be no good at all. However, working through some of the suggested uses I did find some that felt quite nice for me. Particularly using the arms to stimulate my clit in a pinching motion. Doing this so the arms pressed against each side of my clit was the most stimulation I had clitorally. Even if I did find myself wishing for more strength from the vibrations.
For me one of my favourite ways of using the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 was to use it to stimulate my nipples. The vibration was about right for this and it allowed me to give myself a little dose of pinch pain to boot.
I feel like whilst the concept of the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 is great the execution isn’t. It’s a fabulous idea but they would have been so much better to have focused on making the Multifun 2 excel at one or maybe two functions rather than trying to nail 14+. I would genuinely rather pay for a toy that knocks it out the park in its primary function than does a dozen badly.
Satisfyer is known for its suction toys primarily and I am a huge fan of their air pulse devices. It’s a real shame the Partner Multifun toys don’t seem to measure up to these in orgasm potential.
Satisfyer sell the Satisfyer Partner Multifun 2 for £44.95.
