I’m rarely lost for words but when I opened the MEO HAM’R Tubb’R I didn’t know what to say. Dildo’s form a massive part of my collection and I do like a big one, but the Tubb’R is huge.

My first impressions were that it was a baseball bat. The Tubb’R is shaped exactly like a baseball bat, with a black handle and large increasing in size shaft. Opening the box, I gasped. I was going to struggle to take this.

Off Gassing

The first thing I noticed when I opened the plastic wrap coating the HAM’R Tubb’R was a fair bit of off-gassing. The strong chemically smell made my heart sink as I realised the material the HAM’R Tubb’R was made of was a flexible, rubbery type. I quickly checked the online spec and found MEO state on their website that the Tubb’R is made of completely body-safe phthalate-free PVC. This concerned me.

From what I know of PVC I know it does usually contain phthalates. I did a little research. Could there be phthalate-free PVC? Apparently so. In the wake of the health concerns over phthalates, plastic companies have been finding ways to make PVC without these worrying chemicals. However, this isn’t as straightforward as it sounds.

Phthalate-Free PVC

Even though PVC may no longer contain phthalates it’s still a controversial material to use in sex toy production. Phthalate-Free PVC can still contain dioxin which is a known carcinogen, as well as VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). So, although initially phthalate free PVC sounds great it’s still a material which should be avoided for use in sex toys.

I debated long and hard about what to do and decided I was still going to review the HAM’R Tubb’R. I know this will be a controversial decision but my site is about education and choice. I can educate people and advise but they will still make their own choices. To this end I will review the Tubb’R even though I don’t recommend its use because of the materials.

Epic Size

The size of the HAM’R Tubb’R is stunning. The diameter is an eyewatering 8 inches in girth, the insertable length is 9.5 inches and in total length the Tubb’R is 13.5 inches. It really is a bit of a weapon. The weight is considerable too. There is some serious clout behind the Tubb’R.

The shaft of the Tubb’R is transparent. A constant reminder of its dubious substance. You can see in the centre of the shaft a black rod connecting the handle and shaft. The texture of the shaft is an unusual stippled effect and straight away I think about how hard this will be to clean.

Porous Nightmare

Talking about cleaning, the Ham’R Tubb’R is a bit of a nightmare. PVC is porous. This is the other reason why we don’t advocate using it as a sex toy material. The surface absorbs germs making it impossible to clean completely. The stippled surface would make cleaning harder than with a smooth surface anyway. This is not good.

Ok, so although I’m going to use the Ham’R Tubb’R I’m going to put a condom over it first. This isn’t fool proof I know. It’s not proven to protect you and before I get leapt on I’m not advocating covering toxic materials with a condom for use. I simply feel like it’s a precaution worth taking, if I’m taking a risk. This was no mean feat given the size of the shaft. The condom kept rolling up.

Intense Stretch

Putting the head of the Ham’R Tubb’R against me I gulped at the sheer size. There was no way this was going to be easy. I covered the shaft and myself in water based lube and prayed. Easing the shaft inside me was a very slow process, gently does it until much to my shock the shaft popped inside me.

The stretch is intense. Despite the give in the squishy nature of the shaft it opens me wide and makes me gasp. Thrusting the Tubb’R started slow but much to my surprise it got easier and felt good. I wouldn’t have thought it possible for me to take something that big.

Bendy Handle

I was already wishing the Tubb’R had been made from a different material, but during use the bendy nature of the whole toy became annoying. I wanted to hold the handle and be able to ram it inside me but it kept bending over. Anytime you applied pressure the handle gives and I find myself holding the bottom of the shaft.

It’s a crying shame the Ham’R Tubb’R isn’t made of ABS and silicone. If it was it would be great given the awesome shape and dimensions. It’s let down by the material its made of. Not only is it potentially toxic, definitely porous but it’s too flexible. I’m gutted.

In Summary

If you were looking for the kind of stretch offered by the Ham’R Tubb’R I’d suggest trying MEO’s Black Label 10inch Silicone Dildo or the Fuck Buddy dildo. These are made of silicone with an equally impressive size and price tag.

I’m sad I can’t recommend the MEO Ham’R Tubb’R but even without phthalates the risks posed by PVC is still too much. The Ham’R Tubb’R is available from MEO for 49,00€. The MEO Black Label 10-inch Silicone Dildo is 49,90€ and the Fuck Buddy is 39,00€. If you’re looking for a good stretch from a larger than average dildo I recommend the second two.

Thank you so much to the fantastic folk at MEO for sending me the Ham’R Tubb’R to review. I was sent this item free of charge in exchange for an honest and impartial review.
